Bob Iger added to Apple board

Apple has taken further steps to shore up its board after the death of Steve Jobs, adding Walt Disney chief executive Bob Iger as a director. The move is expected to help propel its media ambitions as Apple’s iTunes store sells more music and videos directly to consumers.

Many on Wall Street also expect Mr Iger to launch an attempt to shake-up the fragmented television market. He’d remained close to Steve Jobs after Disney bought Pixar – from the Apple co-founder – for more than US$7 billion in 2006.
